Midnight Breakfast had covered Arsenal’s start to this years EPL campaign and had predicted an Arsenal revival dependent on their talismanic record summer signing Ozil.
This was proved correct initially and Arsenal topped the league table for a while and Ozil was their star.
But in the last 2-3 months Ozil’s magic seem to have faded away and as a result also Arsenal’s top position.
They now lie at 4th position behind Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City just holding on to the Champions League qualification berth and with Everton, Tottenham and Man United on close heels.
There are also reports surfacing that their manager Arsene Wenger has refused to sign a new contract with the Gunners. If this is true then Arsenal would find it difficult to keep competing and to end their 8 year old silverware drought.
A new manager could make matters worse just like their peers Man United.
Arsenal are also paying the price of being conservative in the transfer windows of the past where they did not make many good signings.
It is time that they start using their rich cash reserves to build a powerful squad and again be known as a force to reckon with.
