Analysis by Midnight breakfast:

  • Most talked about signing is Gareth bale: 86 million pounds looks to be a very steep fee paid by Real Madrid. There is no doubt about Bale’s ability as a good attacking winger, but the amount paid for him is astronomical. For Real Madrid this deal means more of a glamour signing to keep up their “Galacticos” status and keep up their shirt sales rather than a stellar player signing. In name of Isco and Illarramendi they also have great midfield signings who can change the face of the game at any moment
  • Tottenham were the busiest club in the transfer window. They have made many good signings to replace the loss of Gareth Bale. They managed to keep their expenditures in check and matched their spending’s with their receivables. Their chairman Daniel Levy has once again proved what a shrewd businessman he is.
  • Manchester City was once again very active during this transfer window on the backing of their cash rich UAE businessman owner. It has to be seen whether their signings will prove useful or not.
  • Manchester United were the most disappointing in this transfer window and managed to buy only Fellaini as a big player in their team and could not bring any of their desired players to whom they were linked.
  • Bayern Munich has also made many good signings like Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona and Mario Gotze from arch rivals Borussia Dortmund. They also have a new manager in face of Pep Guardiola.
  • Newly promoted French club Monaco have been the surprise package in this transfer window who have managed to make many big signings like Falcao, Rodriguez etc.
